Been on broadband a couple of years and not had a problem. Upgraded my mobo & processor & everything is still ok. My problem is I have bought a wireless router to replace my usb connection, but I can not install it as my ethernet controller is not installed properly(not required for USB). Just shows the dreaded yellow '!' under other devices. I have tried all the update driver, re-install driver & uninstalled/reinstalled it and still it does not install properly. I have downloaded the latest version from the mobo manufacturers website (its a ASRock 939 Dual Sata2/A/ASR) run the installation program & still nothing. Annoying. Anyone have any suggestions, it would be much appreciated?

It sounds to me like you've done about all you can to troubleshoot a software related issue. This means the next most likely suspect is a hardware issue.

If the motherboard is still under warranty, take it back where you bought it and have them troubleshoot the issue. It's entirely possible the network interface is no good.

Did you enable the network interface in the bios??? Even with the correct drivers it won't work unless enabled.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

If you have spent more that 10 minutes on this, IMHO it is not worth any more of your time. In the U.S. at newegg you can get new NICs for under $10 including postage. I suggest you just add a new one.
