I am having some problems with a desktop PC which is hard wired to a wireless modem/router (Belkin F5D7633) via an NIC.
The net connection is broadband, I think 512k possibly 1mb. The connection speed is incredibly slow to the desktop PC; 2 minutes to load a webpage, however a laptop connected wirelessly has a perfectly fine connection.
I have done virus scans with Norton and AVG, spyware scans with Ad-Aware, removed Norton completely, checked device manager, and still nothing. I am puzzled that it is working slowly, as I would expect either it to work properly or not at all.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Search for internet speed test. That would be a place to start for more honest speeds. See also the task manager for the true speed on the nic. Use performance monitor to see if your processor use is high. That might indicate some nic problems. Might have to install ethreal. Can you put the laptop on wired to confirm?

Thanks for the suggestions.
The problem appears solved ; I went into device manager and changed the NIC setting from auto to a manual setting until one of them worked.
Quite what had prompted it to stop working in the first place I haven't a clue, but anyway...
