I'm a comp tech for our school's computer lab, we can't get these brand new computers to work with wireless internet. Any adapter we install would only work to the extent that we can get the internet only with IP addresses of websites, not hostname. We can ping anything we want, but we can't use domain names to access internet. Doesn't matter if it's IE or Firefox. These are new computers and they have never been able to access the internet so it is not a virus or malware.
When we disable the ethernet card we can once again resolve hostnames. The ethernet card is only for LAN, no internet. How do I resolve this conflict?

You need to find and use the correct dns ip address and put it in the settings if dhcp is not providing it. Correct dns server if you use one.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

I would consider it a terrible idea to have student pcs dual homed on the internet and your lan at the same time. Someone clearly does not understand that if a student infects the pc via the wireless it will in turn infect the lan. You should be running all internet thru a firewall with monitoring and the ability to filter. Bet right now they can get to all the xrated sites or game sites they want and you have no controls.
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
