Comment: I am having trouble installing active directory. when i put the windows 2k cd in the drive and run dcpromo, an error tells me the network path was not found. the computer i want to promote is not on a lan. i want to promote it so that i can make a domain and a network. how can i fix it? thanks.

Reply: (edit)It needs to have network connectivity to run dcpromo. Just plug it into a hub even if there is nothing else attached to the hub it will still work.

Guys you can install loopback Ethernet Card,u can find it "install hardware==> add new hardware ==> chosse the network card named: Loopback ==> then install Active directory" this way we can fake Active directory, without HUB or cables , or we can do it without Network card even .. thank you .. send me ur Questions

Reply: (edit)I don't have a hub..can you be more specific on installing active directory without a hub? i went to control panel/add remove hardware and i don't see the loopback ethernet card in the list.
