When I disable my dsl from the internet I keep getting this: "Error Disabling Connection: It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system account"
I can't seem to find where to correct this. I know that i've disabled services (which i've done in past several times w/o problems) according to (http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/winxp.htm). Anyone know the solution?
WindowsXP Home
CNet PRO200 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
AMD AnthonXP 1900+ 1.60 ghz
512 mb of ramThanks for any help!!

A DSL connection is established in a similar way as for a Dial-Up Modem: ths when you want to terminate the internet connection you should choose to 'disconnect'.
Maybe this is an exercise in symantecs, however I get the feeling that you are trying to 'disable' the interface device, be it a PCI Ethernet Card or a USB port, linked to the Modem. Which is why Windows is having a 'dummy spit'.

I have the same problem on WinXP SP1, but I have Realtek RTL8139/810X PCI Fast Ethernet card, not DSL. And I remember it used to work correctly just after I installed Windows, but then (may be after installing Service Pack?) something happened... The only way I found so far to avoid this problem is to disable the network adapter in device manager - but it's too much clicks... ;)

I get the same error when disabling the wireless connection: "Error Disabling Connection: It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been initiated by another user or system account".
This could be the result of installing the latest service pack. Since I use automatic windows updates, I don't really know. Disabling the device is still possible, but awkward. I don't know how to remove service pack 1 (if it is installed).
