|some helpful person said that when a new modem is installed it causes problems which require a number of files to be deleted and then for the drivers to be re-downloaded|
Helpful sure, knowledgeable, not so much! That's ridiculous advice and not true at all.
I've changed routers several times over the years and never had to change anything on my client computers to make them connect. The ONLY thing I had to do with wireless clients was reconnect them to the wireless network using the password. This is true even if you use the exact same SSID and encryption key (password) on the wireless network you configure on the new router.
So, not knowing what you've done or haven't done all I can tell you is, get the manual out for your wireless printer and go through the steps to join it to a wireless network as per the manual, not what some halfwit wannabe on the internet told you to do.
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
