Email works fine, internet does not

Comment:
Setup is cable modem to wireless router to 8-port switch. Wired PCs connect to the internet fine, and 1 wireless laptop connects fine. Other laptop will only connect to internet after rebooting and then only for a short time that varies, usually not more than 3-4 minutes. IPCONFIG/ALL on both laptops show the following differences: Node type - Hybrid (works) Broadcast (doesn't work) Under Wireless LAN Adapter- Physical address Link-local IPv6 Address IPv4 Address
Typing an IP address in IE doesn't work, but pinging www.google.com in CMD prompt works.

Post the complete ipconfig /all outputs for both machines. That's the only way we can tell what's happening.

The laptop that works is unavailable at this time, but I did find out the network security key (WEP encryption) only has 8 characters when I can't connect to the internet. Re-entering the key (10 characters) fixes the problem, but only temporarily.

Disable all encryption for now. See what happens.

Everything seems to be working fine without encryption.

Now you know that the encryption was the problem. Read the router docs again. Make sure you set it up correctly.

It works fine on the second laptop, so I do not think the setup is the problem. I think the problem is in the first laptop.
