im not sure if im in the right section for this or not, please redirect if not.

just a couple random questions:
how does a pop3 email server differ from an exchange email server? is it just running different software and using different ports?

i know that ISPs always have pop3 email accounts, but when i make an email server myself, i only know how to make an exhange server.

also- if i was using a pop3 email server account and changed the incoming and outgoing server ports to 80 in outlook account tools, is there an option to change the port number on the server side, and if there was- would this configuration work?

thanks a lot for any ideas

exchange is capable of running a pop3 service, afterall its software like that the ISP's use, exchange is a very in depth product, i am Microsoft certified in ex 2000 and you still come accross issues that havent been experienced before.

advise you to read up more before playing
