|I was wired to a wireless G router and my connection speed was 100mbps|
Are you sure it was G and not N?
802.11g is 54 Mbps
The 300 Mbps of wireless N is more theoretical than actual. Overhead reduces the bandwidth quite a bit. It's also possible your network interface can't exceed 100 Mbps. To check that just google the specs on the interface you're using.
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
