I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. When i connect my desktop directly to the modem it is working fine. When i connect my desktop through the router only the wirless connection is working. My desktop is not working.but Local Area Connection shows that it is connected.
I have updated the Linksys router to the latest patch available. Also i checked the ipconfig in both my desktop and laptop and it shows different IP's on both the machines.
Let me know what i should do so that both my desktop and laptop works at the same time using wired and wireless connection respectively

Connect both machines to the router, whatever way you want. Run ipconfig /all on both of them & post the output from both.
Label each output.

Double check your wire configuration. The modem should be connected to only the WAN port not any of the LAN ports. The computer should be connected to one of the LAN ports.

Also when you get the IP as suggested above, try to ping the Laptop to see if you can at least communicate with it then ping yahoo.com and post the results.

Do either the laptop or desktop get internet access when connected to the router?

When you say each has a different ip you mean only the last digits are different correct? Same gateway entry for both?
