What's the easiest way to bridge 2 desktops?
I would like to share printers and files.
Both have XP and are connected together through cable to router.

I know nothing about networks except that both desktops connect to internet through router and that they detect the network.

I tried bridging the 2 desktops and my network connections show a bridge. I don't know that it is bridged to the other desktop

How do i tell if I can access the other desktop? How do I share files and printers?

Thank you for any help.

Bridging isn't needed to share files.
Give both PCs the same workgroup name.

Right click on the drives and printers that you want to share and left click on sharing.

Open the command prompt on both PCs and run ipconfig /all to get the IP addresses.

On one of them, click start, run and put the IP of the other box in the run box.
\\ and press enter. You should see the shares and you can create shortcuts on the desktop.

Do the same on the other box.
