Hey guys,

I have DSL service and am using a Siemens SpeedStream 4200 modem (yes, the 4200 NOT the 4100). Anyhow, we had a storm which knocked the power out and ever since I haven't been able to get online through the router.

I can connect just fine if my computer is hooked up directly to the modem; however, when I attached my router (Linksys RV082), it can not get an IP.

I have tried power cycles, full resets and complete reconfigurations. Is there an option that I am missing somewhere?

AT&T doesn't fully support the modem and Linksys no longer supports the router...

I can provide further information tonight.

Sounds like it got fried. Did you have any surge protection for it?

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Well, I thought it may have gotten fried even though I have surge protection, but ruled that out when I was able to log into the router interface to change settings still.

"it can not get an IP" and
"I can connect just fine if my computer is hooked up directly "

Both point to mac to ip mapping by the ISP.

You need to clone your workstations mac address to the routers wan interface. There is usually a tab in the routers web interface for this.

You can get your pcs mac address by typing at a cmd prompt
ipconfig /all

it is listed as the physical address.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search

The WAN (Internet) port could still be bad. You will still be able to login to the router interface.
