DSL router/Windows Me

I have a new PC with Windows Me and have just signed up for Verizon DSL service. I want to network this pc with my older Win95 machine. I also purchased a Linksys 4 port router, which I am advised will ease the sharing of DSL service and also function as a hub. My kids also insist that I keep AOL, which I understand can be run via TCP/IP. Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to best approach this set-up, including sequence of software installation and other steps? Many thanks.

I'm not too familiar with how to set up the network but I will say good luck getting Verizon to work at all. I'm still waiting to get my home office line to run since Oct. 18th. AOL has a BYOA thing, Bring Your Own Access, so when you sign up for Verizon, you can get AOL for $9.95 a month, but there's a catch...if DSL goes down and you connect via an analog line, it's like $2.95 per hour. As far as installing the Verizon software, you can't do that until service is actually turned on. They sent me a faulty Westell modem which I am still awaiting replacement. Every tech you talk to tells a different lie, so like I said, hope it works for you. I'm trying Roadrunner next week on another computer.

I have read your Nov 26 message. I am trying to do the same, except with Cable. I have been able to get both computers to access the internet through the Linksys BEFSR41 router. But I cannot get the computers to share files/etc. using WinME. Any suggestions?
