How can I make my network work between two computer using a router and XP professional.
I am using T-DSL and a Allnet router. I have plugged everything in right, but it won't connect to the internet or anything. Can anyone help?

If everything is plugged in correctly, you should at least be able to see the other computers on the LAN. The DHCP service in the router will assign the IP's and put everyone on the same subnet.
As for getting onto the Internet, check your router configuration (owners manual) and double check your DSL account info (name & password). Default gateway configuration should be set automatically by the router as part of the DHCP service.
Were you able to use your DSL line before getting a router? My DSL provider assumed I was connecting only 1 PC and so I had to install some software to initally activate the account. Once activated, it stays up and I'm free to network with a router.

The problems is that I had DSL working before I put up the router, but now that won't work. I have had to unplug it to ask for help. Also I can't see the other computer on the LAN. I tried removing everything and reinstalling XP just to see, but nothing happens. Is there anything I might be doing wrong?

Hi,
Were you ever able to see the other computer on the lan?
XP has really tight security. You've got to add the user (the one that the other computer logs on with) to XP's list. Moreover, that user on your other computer cannot have a blank password unless you shutoff that security feature in XP.
Also, if your DSL won't connect anymore directly, did you use the bridging feature on XP for internet connection sharing? You may have more than one problem.
Goodluck,
Alan

I never have seen the other computer on the lan.
What is this add user to list that you mean. I can't completly understand what you meant by it.
Bridging???
Sorry for being almost impossible here.
