Folks, having a DSL issue. Waiting for my ISP to come fix it, but I thought I'd run the problem by ya'll..

Modem indicated a problem by a blinking DSL light. I changed all cables, connected the modem directly into the phone jack, and I also tried this on all the phone jacks in the house..including the "Customer Access" portion of the telephone company's box. I also tried another modem. Same issue.

Usually all I get is the solid green power light and the blinking DSL light when not connected to the computer.

A couple of times, the power light on the modem was amber, with no other indicator lights.

Anyone ever experienced this particular problem before? What was the cause and the fix?

Thanks, all.

Only thing that comes to mind for me is the filters and any phones that may be plugged in,
just for the fun of it maybe disconnect everything in the building "phones/filters" and see if that clears the line ?
I had a DSL modem "Westell 6100" about a year ago that failed, it would just drop the connection from time to time, placed a call and had a new one on the way, sorry for such a small tip, I wish I could help more as I know how much you help out around here...

P.S. If you do'nt already have one get a good UPS and be sure to pass the the DSL circut through it and plug the modem in there as well...

Thanks. I'll try disconnecting all the phones and see if that helps.

Replaced three modems from the cable company here for a customer before we had one that worked.

They use the cheapest stuff available. Could be that.

I tried another modem. Same behaviour.. All filters are in place on the other phones. Also, I tried the modem in the "test" jack attached to the telephone company's box...No dice. Although that time I got an amber light on the power indicator, with no other lights.

Although they tell me everything tests okay from their end, obviously, not everything is okay. Just pi**es me off that I have to take a day off to let them in the house because they won't go inside without someone there. They gave me a window of 8:00 - 5:00. Nice they could narrow that down, huh?

Problem fixed. Not on my end at all. Some cards were being replaced at the switch. Lovely that Verizon DSL support communicates with all branches of the organization. Sheesh...
