My DSL company (online plus) recently upgraded to 4mbs. They offer a free upgrade to those of us who had the previous 1mb. When I called to upgrade the person asked how many connections I had, and I said 2, my computer and an Xbox. So we went to pickup the modem and stuff to upgrade and come to find out, they gave us a VisionNet (204-5) Modem/Router. So I hooked it all up as shown in the instructions (very easy) and my computer connects to the internet fine, but when I turn my Xbox on, it steals the IP from my computer ("there is an IP address confict with another system on the network"). It then boots me off the internet on my computer, and my Xbox won't connect to it either (DNS issues).

So I talked to a few friends and decided to call their customer support. The person told me they shipped the routers in Bridge Mode and I was getting my DSL IP (208.20....) instead of a Static IP (10.0.0.#).

I cannot connect to the router page (10.0.0.2) like it says I can in the instructions and I am also unable to get my existing motorola router to work through the VisionNet modem/router.

My question is: How can I get the modem/router out of Bridge Mode and in to Router Mode. Or how can I get in to the configuration page for the modem/router (I've tried doing a static ip 10.0.0.3 and it still doesn't work). Or, how can I use my existing Motorola router with the router/modem.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

To access your modem/router, connect directly from your pc to your modem/router. Go to start, run, then type in cmd, then ipconfig. Look for your default gateway number. That is your modem/router's IP. Type that number in a web browser and it should take you to a configuration page. You will probably need a UN/pass for this. Also, only take this modem out of bridge mode if you have a router....other wise it won't work.
