This is the situation. My home network has 5 computers, a links router, modem, & a static IP address, my router took a crap three weeks ago, ever since I've had a difficult time with it. On Thursday, the router at work took a crap (it's a conspiracy I swear) I know some about networks, but not a whole bunch I admit. I'm still learning. I still know more than the average person though. I've been remoting between the office computers and home and vise versa for over a year. At work, we have a d-link router, static IP, 12 computers, server, dsl modem. Since I carry my laptop back and forth I wanted to set up both systems to have the same dhcp sequence. 192.168.0.***. The office is set this way, the home is set 192.168.1.***. I am unable to correct this problem on my home computer for some reason. I have also run into another problem, I just found out that when the system was originally set up the router was told to be the IP address. When I set it up this time, I told both to be the IP address, without realizing my mistake. Obviously this is not working. 2 questions, I need to remote into the systems, which device should be named as the ip address and then how do I make this happen. Thank you to anyone who can help.
