My DSL provider is Bellsouth. I did not want to pay for the DSL where you have to pay extra and get it to all the computers in my home so I just borrowed by friend's ethernet DSL modem (I had the Speedtouch USP one before) and connected it to my DSL router and BOOM, all of the computers connected to the router have internet. The DSL modem is a NetDSL 800 from ARESCOM. It is not a modem that is suppost to be used with bellsouth. My friend's computer hadn't been working with the one he was suppost to used and the technition was just like, I have a modem that might work in my truck, and gave them the one I hjave now. It has 3 green lights, the PWR (power), the LINK that is under LAN, and LINK that is under WAN. It has 3 yellow lights, one that says DIAG, one that says ACT that is under LAN, and one that says ACT that is under WAN. When everything was good, all the green lights would be on, and when it had internet, all the yellow lights would flash. All of a sudden, ALL the lights are on and the only light not on is the LINK that is under that WAN, and the internet is not working. What the Heck happened???? I turn it off and then back on and it stays like that. I know that I'm still getting service because I connect the phone line to my USP modem and connect to only 1 computer and internet works. What happened??? How can I fix this????

Either the modem's input is blown (lightning will do it) or your BellSouth provider has started enforcing use of only registered MAC addresses (ie. the unit they supplied).

You will have to test this by trying to use this modem on your friends DSL Line, and take your modem and try it on his line. If your USB modem works on his line, but the other one does not, then it is blown. If neither works, then they may be enforcing registered MAC addresses, and you will have to talk to them about it.
