Hi all. I have a very annoying problem with my broadband connection. It occurs whenever I connect to game servers and file-sharing networks. Usually I am able to connect and it works initially but then after a few minutes my internet connection hangs and my system runs very slow. I often have to reboot my system. My ISP is AOL and I connect using a DSL modem with a router. My connection speed is 1mb/s. I have Windows XP with Service pack 1 installed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

First I would suggest uppdating to SP2. My second question is, why do you have AOL at all??? If you have DSL connection, that is your ISP, so you don't need AOL. If your keeping AOL because of your email, you can still keep that same email even if you cancel your aol subscription, just tell them. I know that isn't exactly what you were looking for in terms of an answer. Just my 2 cents. By the way, AOL has been known to create issues in the past, hence why I encourage you to get rid of it. That and a 21.95/month savings.

How is your nic card set ? Make sure it is set as auto , not hardcoded to a speed and duplex.
