I am having trouble of connecting to my dsl service through my linksys router. when i try to configure my router, I get an error saying that i can not connect to the router. All of the ethernet cables are connected correctly. The link led is light up on the WAN and LAN on the router. The dsl modem works fine when connected directly to my pc so i know that it is working fine. for some reason, i can't get my router to work. any ideas

Thanks

You're not using a crossover cable are you? You need a standard CAT5E cable between your router and your NIC card.

I believe the address for most Linksys routers is http://192.168.0.1 in your IE address bar.

Go to browser URL and type your default
IP address and then press enter.
To Login to Riuter Utility pages, type admin and then password and press enter.
Check your settings in each section.
If you have to be logged in to your ISP, before the router setup, are you?

You will most likly need to change your TCP/IP settings on your PC to DHCP to obtain a IP from the router so that your on the same subnet as the internal ports on the router.

What happens when you ping your router? What is the LAN IP address of the router? Of your PC?

make sure u connect all the cables CORRECTLY. Then reset the router (do your homework: read the manual), unplug the power (router & PC) for 1 minute and plug it back in. u'll be ok.

I've own several Linksys routers and
installed several others, including Mac
systems. I find them easy to install.
Most go in without any problem. Make sure
your cables are OK, and that you know what
settings appear where. And reboot/restart
to apply the settings.
