hi!!! to all i have this problem with my laptop in our offive im logging in the through our domain server but it always say no domain server is available to validate your password... so I tried testing the server and its ok i have a reply I even tried configuring my laptop to static ip given the gateway. I belive all my setting are right and ive been using this computer for a long time this thing just happen recently .. pls help! our server is Win NT

sounds like your dns/wins entries are wrong which is why it can't find the server. So either the server configuration for dns/wins are not right or your tcp/ip properties has the wrong entries for dns/wins.

Your testing is unclear. When you ping the server by name you get a response?

That message usually means your laptop is not connecting to the server. In other words, there is a physical break in the network hardware between your laptop and server. Move your laptop to another known, good network connection and try again. Test your patch cords at both the computer and the hub/switch. Move the patch cord to another port on the hub/switch, look for connectivity. If there are link lights and they are on, run "winipcfg" and "release all", then reboot and try again. If you have link lights and they are not on, then you definately have a physical break in your network between your laptop and server. NOTE: some laptops don't have link lights...

thanks guys actualy ryt now my computer is configure to have an static ip address and i also put the DNS..I can log-in.. I havent mention that we are in a remote site our main server is located in other place they say that it may be the router(DHCP server) is not working (I dont have much idea about cisco routers...) but hey thanks!!!
