I have a private network and i would like to include a DNS server because i want to configure DHCP on my router. I would therefore like to know a list of things that would be needed from start to finish to make the DNS work on my network . The entire setup will be private and independent of my ISP.

a local dns server has nothing to do with configuring dhcp on your router.

what is your reasoning here? I see you have sql server, what is it residing on?
