I just set up my home networking. My brother and I are on LAN. He like to download things using Kazaa. When he is downloading, my internet usually slows down. Is there a way to slove this problem?

Only unplugging his LAN connection or removing his Kazaa.

Well, what I think you are asking for is loadbalancing. IE cap his connection so that he cant dig into your bandwidth and slow down your connection. They easiest (read most expensive) is to buy a higer-end router like a decent cisco...but a much cheaper option would be to use liunx with lartc or somethine similar (free). Good luck to you.

Alright, you guys only have one pipe with so much bandwidth. So you are going to have to limit his downloading (don't know if Kazaa can have limits of bandwidth per download thread, good ftp clients do - ex. no more than 50kpbps).
The best way to do this is get to get something like Linux Bandwidth Arberator, which will let you configure things to share the amount of bandwidth you have (or at least limit your brother's use of it).

You will have to get a computer to run this on (that computer would need to be running Linux). Place that computer between the Internet and your brother.

If you follow this route, you are going to learn a few things. First you need an existing Linux system. Then you need to install LBA (download is in the left column of the site - its free software).
There are lots of distributions (flavors or packaged versions) of Linux. Distrowatch.com lists many of them. Get something like Redhat, SuSe, or Mandrake.
Follow the How-to for installation and configuration of LBA.
