Does getting a new router speed up internet?

D-link Adsl2/2+ wireless router

Specs: Windows 7, 4.00 GB
My question is does getting a new router speed up my internet and download speed as my router downloads at 30 Kb/s and i think should be downloading faster it also crashes but what i really want to know is getting a new and different router would speed up my internet downloads and speed the running speed of my internet. Please Reply ASAP

Ps. I dont know if this is the right section to post so please dont get up me.

It may or it may not. It depends if there was something seriously wrong with the old router. If the data isn't arriving at the router at sufficient speed the best router in the world isn't going to make to go any faster.

I agree with above.

Basically cheap soho routers could be a cause of slow internet. As the product either gets newer or of higher quality it could speed up speeds.

Some form of tests need to be done to at least try to locate the problem.

I think you need to tell us what type of highspeed package you have and what the rated bandwidth is before we can assume there's anything wrong in the first place.

I know my parents, on my advice, have a "highspeed lite" package with limited bandwidth. If you have a similar package, that could be your 'normal' limit in which case nothing is wrong.

Also, other things that affect rates are the internet itself and the server you're connecting to, or downloading from. If the internet is busy and the same is true for the server, then your rates will drop accordingly.
