How do I know if I have an ethernet card installed on my home PC (OS: windows xp professional)? I mean without physically open the computer case to take a look. Can I do the check from control panel or what.

Yeah you should check in control panel under the hardware setting but just look in the back of your pc. You should see something that looks like a phone jack hole but bigger.
