Comment:

in our lan we have one 2k3 server running DNS, and another w2k3 server running DHCP.
now, after all the users/workststions has booted and loged in into the network. Assuming in the morning all servers servicing the clients fine and all workstations/users gracefully started and loged in into the network, but then if the DHCP should then eventually fail/go down, can any user in the network be able to access a resource in a different machine in the LAN?

Provided you don't reboot the station, it will still retain its IP address untill the lease time expires. As long as it has an IP address, it will be able to communicate with other stations using TCP/IP.

yaeh sure it will able to access a resource in a different machine in the LAN... coz there is something called APIPA it gives an alternating IP by derieving it from the physical address which is located in BIOS.
