Hi,
I’m running a Windows 2003 server with DNS, DHCP, IIS, FTP and Active Directory at home for testing purposes.
I’ve got ISP which provides me with a static public IP.

I’ve got some asp pages running and there’s one in particular which redirects users to different other pages based on their Internet browser.

When I try to reach my web server from the internet by using my public IP I can see the start page and then I get redirected accordingly. No problem….

But when I try to reach the same page from one of my client machines from the intranet the clients get redirected to the public IP by the script and I get a ‘We can't find "227.169.105.289" (Not actual IP)
So, basically, my problem is that I cannot see the server by calling it with its public IP, but I can see it by using its private IP (e.g. 10.0.0.1).

I can also see it from the intranet by calling it by its name ‘myserver1’ or its name and domain ‘myserver1.mydomain.com’.

I created a Reverse Lookup Zone for 227.169.105.x with a
Pointer (PTR)
Host IP number: 227.169.105.289
Host Name: myserver1.mydomain.com

So, when I do a ‘ping 227.169.105.289’
I get a ‘Reply from 10.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128’

The same with
‘ping mydomain.com’
‘ping myserver1’
‘ping 10.0.0.1’
I always get ‘Reply from 10.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128’
Which it’s just what I want, I believe. However I still can’t see the web server, or the FTP server, etc by using the public IP address from the intranet.

Am I missing something?
Thank you very much for the advice.
