Hi there,
I have some problem on the DNS. The following are my story.
My company server connect to Company A through direct lease line. Company A end is VPN but my company is not.
Company A got give us the URL:http://test.com.sg and http://202.12.125.1. Both url is for us to access to their server. http://test.com.sg actually is a domain name for http://202.12.125.1.

The problem is this. If i type a URL:http://202.12.125.1 on my Internet explorer, i can browse Company A data/website. But if i type a URL:http://test.com.sg on my internet explorer, and the browser come error mean i unable to reach the url. What is the problem?
Company A told me that only my company unable to access URL:http://test.com.sg is may be my DNS server not set properly. They said i must do some mapping on my DNS. What is that about? How to solve this problem?

Anybody can help me. Thanks a million.

regards
Sarah

I have a solution might not be the best answer but it is an answer that should work.
Load the address into your lmhost file.

To do this add the following line to a file called “LMHOSTS”
With no extensions.

the first part is your ipaddress 202.12.125.1
the second is the domain name Test.com.sg
#DOM: YourDomain Test
#PRE
the last part is for comments #Your Comments Here
so it would look a lot like this

202.12.125.1 test.com.sg #DOM:test #PRE #COMMENTS HERE

goto TCP/IP Properties
click on advancand
click on the wins table
Check Enable LMHOST lookup
Click on Import LMHOST…
And select the LMHOST file you created

What this will do is convert that domain name into a ipaddress for you.
