hi all !!

Im in a network place with
15 computers
1 w2k server and its the pdc and dhcp and dns server
and my router is a ipcop firewall.

for the last 2 weeks, people loose access to the internet for about 5 min and then it comes back up like nothing happened.

while they loose internet access, i checked some things, the dsl modem is still up, and my ipcop box also is running. People can access the local network, ping the server by its ip and DNS name but cant ping www.hotmail.com.

When internet comes up again, i checked my firewall log and there were no disconnection and said tha its running for the last xxx days !!!

The internet company came to verify their own material like cables and modem and external wired and they gave me a report that everything is perfect.

Anyone has an idea of what is going on !!!!

wksts point to MS DNS server?
ISP dns servers listed by ip in the forwarders tab for MS DNS?

If you can resolve local names you MS DNS is working correctly. It comes down to the above questions and gateway hardware/services

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
