I have a static IP, and a domain name. I have DNS running fine on my server sith no probs.

I've noticed some emails not sending very well, then got an email from my ISP telling me there's a problem when sending to AOL, and to fix this I'd need to ask them to setup a reverse DNS record for my hostname.

They've done this, but...

When I try to connect to IRC, i get errors like "don't connect from a mail server".

Currently My DNS records look like...

@ IN SOA ns1.mydomain.com. root.mydomain.com. (
2004110901 ; Serial
1H ; Refresh 1H
1H ; Retry
1W ; Expire
1D ) ; Minimum

IN NS ns1.mydomain.com.
IN NS ns2.mydomain.com.

IN MX 10 mail.mydomain.com.

mydomain.com. IN A [my external IP address]

localhost IN A 127.0.0.1

ns1 IN CNAME mydomain.com.
ns2 IN CNAME mydomain.com.

www IN CNAME mydomain.com.
ftp IN CNAME mydomain.com.
mail IN CNAME mydomain.com.

My ISP has setup a reversal as...

[my external IP address] -> mail.intelcompute.com

Does my ISP need to setup another reverse pointer, or should I edit my own setup?

Cheers,

Rob
