2 days ago i went to www.planethalflife.com and a window came up saying "internet exploror could not open the search page" and the website didnt load and it showed me "this page cannot be displayed" and a DNS server/server couldnot be found at the bottom. The same is happening to my sister on her computer which is on the same network as mine, but yet this does not happen to all websites (for example planethalflife might not load, but computing.net will. Also i'm having problems connecting to WON servers for WON authencation in half-life: counter-strike. IS this a DNS error of my ISP and network(my ISP of my network (ya, theirs a T1 line, then it goes to a small un-official network, then to DSL, then to my house, where i also have a HUB with my 2 computers), or just something buggy that can be fixed some way? or does anyone know what it might be if not that? PLEASE HELP! p.s. also Aol instant messenger somtimes signs on fine, and the other half of the time it says "service cannot be reached"

that is their dns server error...not yours..you know this because you are able to reach the internet and resolve a FQDN to an IP...if you want to see for sure that it is them you can do as follows...open a command prompt by going to start run and typing in cmd then run this command arp -d * then try to visit that site again...after you do so and get an error run this command arp -a looking at the displayed IP address ping that IP if you can ping it it verifies 2 things..your connection is fine and you can reach that site...if you cant ping it it also verifies 2 things your connection is fine and their site is down.....you can also try to ping your ISPs DNS server if that works then you know it is omewhat functioning....if your internal DNS server works then you know that the above is true....thanx for the post
