I am trying to set up a Home Network at my house. However, my dad's computer has a network at his office as well. What I was hoping to do was making a file that loads everytime he starts his computer letting him choose between his home or office settings. This file would ideally replace the existing network information with the new information within the file.
However, to do this, I need to know where the DNS Information is saved along with IP address, etc...
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ON THE COMPUTER THE DNS INFORMATION IS SAVED (i know that to change it you go through control panel, etc., but i need to know where it literally is saved on my computer)

Thank you,

Satyan

What OS platform are you using???? Using DHCP could fix this problem anyway.

Sorry about that. I'm using platform Windows ME. The problem that I have continuously had was that even when using two separate PCMCIA Network Adapters for his laptop, although the IP settings would change for each network card, the DNS information would stay the same. I want to be able to change all of those settings while the computer is loading, which means that I want to make a file that will automatically replace the information with this new information every time the computer loads.

I am not shure what DNS problem you are haveing.. But I think you are saying that the are 2 differant DNS servers you need to see. If that is the case simply go to the TC/IP properties and add the IP address of both DNS servers.. And then setup 2 users on the Computer 1 with the username and password for Work and 1 with the username and password for Local. And then just log in as need be.. The system will resolve DNS from the server that holds the awnser to the request
