Does anyone have a Dlink router and have you had any problems trying to get the 2nd computer to get on the web?

Yes. Well I assume so because I can see both computers. The main computer can see the 2nd computer and click on fils and drag the files to the main computer!!

i have a dlink router. i don't have any problems. all the wireless computers can access the internet, and any computer that i plug into the ethernet ports can connect too.
My network is also the most secure I can make it (ie: difficult for a computer to get added on without me knowing)Computers that are connected to your network can communicate with each other...but that doesn't necessarily mean they can access the internet. Like when I was trying to add my laptop, all the computers could see each other, and my laptop could ping websites and stuff, but couldn't access the internet. The router has filters that prevent LAN computers from accessing the internet...maybe you need to add your 2nd computer? Like I have mac address filtering on (thus you need to add the mac address), etc

Hmmm...I guess I need to add my second computer- but not sure what you mean. I do know that the router has 2 IPs 192.168.0.100 and 101..or something like that. But that second computer can not ping websites nor can it release/renew.

What Operating System(s) are you using? Are you using cable or DSL?
This is how I set mine up running Windows 98 and Windows XP:
1) Computers
If you haven't done it already, install drivers for your network card. In the network settings, you need to set everything to "Local Area Network". I think your D-Link router acts as a mini DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, so activate DHCP. On Windows machines, you have to go to "TCP/IP Properties", select the tab labeled "IP Address" and activate "Obtain an IP address automatically". That's all. Connect your PC's to the router and your router to the modem.2) Router
With the computer that orginally had the internet, start up your browser. Point it to http://192.168.0.1/ . A dialog box will come up asking you for a user name and a password. As user name, use "admin". Leave the password field empty.Select "Setup Wizard".
You might be prompted to change your password. It's pretty straight forward.
You will be asked if you have Cable, DSL Modem or Ethernet. Click on DSL modem. You will be asked if you connect to your DSL provider using PPPoE. Select "Yes"
If you have cable make sure you follow that path.
You'll get a "Congratulations" page with a "Finish" button on the bottom. Press this button, so that the router can reboot with the new settings in effect.
Reboot your computer. That's it. Everything should work now.
Start your browser (www.yahoo.com) it should only take a second or two to display the home page. The router will, in turn, connect to the DSL/Cable modem and establish an Internet connection. Attempt the same with your other PC(s).
I hope this helps. If not let me know where you're stuck. Contacting via email also works for me.
Cheers,
Mike
