Hi everyone,

D-Link DIR 655 router has a USB port. Is that port for printer or the external hard drive? Thank you very much for any help.

You can connect a NAS server or a printer to the USB port and share it.

It's neither. The USB port is to plug you router into a PC. The USB port aides in the initial setting up of the router. A lot easier than configuring Ethernet ports if you don't know how to do it.

Its is a flat USB socket like the ones in the back of your PC then yes maybe. Then the router is a host. If its a square socket with four pins, then no. Its a USB client.

Thank you for your reply folks. I asked a sell person at Best Buy, he said the USB port can connect a printer, but not sure about the external hard drive.
