The best way to accomplish this through a cross-over ethernet cable, but both your computers would need to have network cards installed. You can't connect two pcs with a simple printer cable connecting them via the printer (LPT1) ports. NICS are cheap, like 20$ a piece and the crossover cable is very cheap.

You must have a laplink type parallel cable.
Cost about 5or 6 bucks. Pinouts available in old DOSHELP: Intersvr or Interlnk.
Direct Cable is very difficult to make work.
Go here:
http://www.ghisler.com/
Get Windows Commander, the PREMIER file handler. Shareware, not crippled. No muss no fuss, no configuration.
Let me know how this works out for you.
You will never use DCC again.

I am currentl yrinning xp pro on 1 pc and dos 6.22 or similar on a laptop. the only similar ports the two have available to meare serial.

I can use interlnk.exe on dos 6 to create serial port connections via 2 computers running interlnk, or actually intersrv on the host and interlnk on the guest.

My issue is that winxp has no real dos, yet i can run intersrv.exe off of a floppy in the dos emulator and it almost works... i get the screen to come up and i can find my xp machine through the serial on my laptop, but when i connect it shuts down intersvr on my xp pc. Is there an upgrade to intersvr that will comply tith the old interlnk or even both new programs that wil do the same thing?

I know it is possible, please email me with info????? :) thnx
