Did chat programs have port number

Hi,
Did the chat programs have a port number like ftp 21, telnet 23,.....etc
So if it have one I can prevent users in my domain from using the chat programs.....

They all use ports but some of them are able to change ports if one of the ports can not connect. Yahoo and I believe AIM can even use port 80. Check this article on blocking:

yes it is tell me what chat programs ru using? is it mirc, yahoo mess, etc? if you want to know about the ports that you want to trigger kind ly go to www.google.com and type on the search engine that you want to know ... for example mirc ports ... then youl have to see the ports on the list ... hope that will help you
