Dialup problem

Recently, my 56k hasn't been connecting to Instant messenger programs or online games. It still works fine for browsing though. One day, everything was working fine but then it started doing this.

You haven't got a dial-up problem if your modem is dialing up ok to your ISP and can browse the Internet! Maybe you have a SW problem or Firewall blocking something!

Well, I don't have a firewall up at the moment. And if it's a software problem, I'd sure like to know how to fix it.
