I am only able to connect with dialup.
I would like to use one desktop connected to the internet via phone line. ( already done)
I would like to connect/network another desktop in another room and a laptop to it.
The laptop is fairly new (dell 5100 inspiron) with ethernet inside and a wireless card capability.pcmcia capable.
I have sent msgs to some manuf. and they of course try to sell me equip for cable/dsl. that is not avail here.
Does anyone have any ideas or a plan to help us out my family are going nuts (teens)!
my main desktop is a p3 1.3ghz - 1024 ram- xp pro- 80gb hd-
desktop is p2 with 512 ram 350 mhz-xp home
laptop is 2.4 - 1024 ram- 40 gb hd.- xp pro

You would want to setup ICS [internet connection sharing] between the modem and the nic card in your dialup pc. You would connect the nic card to a hub and the other pcs would patch to the hub. Their gateway addresses would be the modem pc's nic. All pcs would be in the same ip range as the modem pcs nic.

seeing as we don't know what you have for your older pc, if you look on the web to set up ICS and you use a wireless base station (802.11 b which is slower ( but goes through walls better then 802.11A or G)
you should be able to use ICS to run a Nic Nic to wireless to laptop combo. The Base station act like a router but it sends out a signal.So take out out the second pc and add wireless.
\ so it would go.............using Internet connection S. (ics) nic to nic in the host machine , run cat5 to the base station, to your wireless nic card in your laptop.
