how can I get my DI-704P Router to work with online gaming without unplugging it from the Router, and plugging it in the back of my modem. direct connection. There must be a way to do it.

Is your router have NAT?? Network address translation? Or port forwarding?

If so just forward the ports that the game uses and you will be right.

If you are playing UT1 for example forward ports 7775 7776 7777 to the local address of the computer running the game.

So if you LAN address is 10.1.1.2 forward the ports to 10.1.1.2 and you will be right.

If you router cannat do this, you are stuck!

There is a way to do it and what Caveman said sounds right.

I have the same router with four PC's connected and we all play UT online and it rocks!

Open your web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 (the IP address of your D-Link router).

Enter your password and login.

This will get you into your routers configuration utility, I'm at work right now and I forgot exactly how to do it but here's a link that should help:
