Comment: I recently started having problems connecting to web sites (and when my anti-virus software tries to automatically download updates). The first time I go to google.com for example, I get the message that server can not be found. I click the Try Again button and it immediately connects. No matter what web site I try, it fails on the first attempt and then connects on the second. I've used Firefox 2.0 and IE 7 and the same behavior occurs. I called my ISP and they seemed to have isolated the problem to my router (a D-Link DI-604) because if I connect one of the computers directly to the DSL modem, I don't have the issue. I've tried resetting the router and upgrading the firmware from the D-Link web site and that has not corrected the problem. Any ideas? Could it be time for a new router? This one is 3 years old.

Reply: (edit)I would recommend resetting the router to factory defaults. There should be a small hole that says "Reset" on it. Hold that in for 10 seconds and it will reset everything. See if this fixes the issue.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the suggestion. I have already tried that and there was no change.
