i have a few machines running on a network governed by DHCP (linksys 4port BEFSR41 v3).

i also have a PC that prints to two large format printers (these printers require static ip's). this PC is not on the DHCP network but does utilize a linksys router to reach the printers.

is there a site or perhaps someone has advice that will inform me as to how i can allow my router set up for static to access the DHCP network?

thanks

The only problem you have is if the router accidently assignes one of the static IPs to another client, then one or the other of them loses connection at random. If you allow the DHCP server to assign IP addresses to clients you just have to make sure the "static" addresses are well outside the range the router normally assigns but are still part of the LAN's IP range.

Either assign the computer to an IP address outside the scope of the DHCP server, or turn the PC into a DHCP client, and setup an IP reservation in the router for that computer to be a specific IP address everytime.

what id really like to do is to keep the pc & the printers off the main network so that network usage does not slow down transferring data to the printers.

i was wondering if i could make the DHCP router "think" that the router handeling the static ip's is just another PC on the network (to which it may assign any ip it likes).

any ideas?
