This is my first attempt to make a home network and I am so disappointed that I can't get it to work. I feel such a failure!!!
I have an AOL BB account which works fine, and I wanted to go wifi, so bought the speedtouch 570 and the 110 card for my laptop.
I can't get to first base though, because I can't get the 570 to work. The installation completes fine using the ethernet cable. But it doesn't work.
When I reboot I get to DCHP and then it pauses and then comes back with PXE-E53 No boot filename received.
Does this mean that the speedtouch is faulty? There seems to be some data flowing, but I can't locate the 570 in the device manager, and the Dr Speedtouch utility tells me that there is a problem with the device [helpful!]. However, doing all the troubleshooting changes in the utility, and reinstalling don't make any difference.
I have a hunch that the PXE E53 problem is significant - but don't know what it means or how to fix it.
If you can give me any help I would really be grateful.
Thanks
Robert

Your BIOS settings are set to boot to the network. You want to disable this unless you are attempting to boot to the network to load an Operating System.
You need to get into the BIOS and it is usually the 'standard' menu or something like it. I am not sure with the Tecra. Set your first boot device to the floppy, second to CD, and third to hard drive. You may either have boot to PCMCIA device or network as your current settings. I would remove it completely unless you intend to boot from one of these devices (there are USB, 1394, removable hard drives and CDROMs that can be attached to the PCMCIA card bus).

Thanks Dave. Actually, someone advised me to change the settings on the device = I don't understand exactly what they meant, but it worked!
I appreciate your assistance though and am now lying in bed with my laptop and feeling very happy! Sad in a way ;-)
Robert
