I have a D-Link 300T modem,it has it's own built in DHCP server.

The modem goes into my Belkin router which also has it's own built in DHCP server.

Both DHCP servers are enabled.
While my internet works,it seems a bit sluggish.

Would this have anything to do with having both DHCP servers enabled?

I tried disabling the modems DHCP server and while the modem says it has an internet connection,I cannot connect to the internet with my browser.
I have not tried disabling the routers DHCP server yet.

There are 2 settings in the modem that can be changed MTU and MRU,both at 1500 I think?

If the modem has DHCP then it must be a combo modem/router. You could try either

1) Disable the DHCP in your stand-alone router and just use it as a switch or...

2) Use the DHCP on the Modem/Router and put the Router into the DMZ zone for the Modem/Router. The internal network for the Modem/Router and the Router should be on different IP ranges.

Thanks for reply.

This is my modem....http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2004/q4/dlink-dsl300t.asp

It is just a modem.

I have noticed from the review that he has the encapsulation set to VC where as I'm using LLC encapsulation.

Would this account for it maybe?
