I have a Compaq Evo laptop which has a built in LAN card. I attached a D-Link PCI wireless LAN card to my laptop and have DHCP enabled on my wireless router. My LAN card gets an IP address of 192.168.0.100 when i put the cable in, but my wireless LAN card gets an Automatic Private IP Address which is something like 162/169.x.x.x 1 . I know that my wireless router is working fine because i can connect my Acer laptop with it. This WLAN card was working fine till a few days ago. How should I resolve this issue? I have tried uninstalling and installing the card 10 times.... thx Cheers Anindya

I think it might be due to the fact that you have 2 lan cards.
Try disabling the built in one in the bios and see if the other card picks up the IP address.

I aaumed that it did. But obviously something changed. Until you can sort it out, it couldn't hurt to disable one of them.
