Hi!
Need to know the definition of the concept "ip range". Does the term "ip range" include Net ID and broadcast address or doesn't it.
Is there a RFC document about this or is it just a loose term.

The range refers to the router being used a DHCP server that assigns addresses to attached nodes.
eg. I have 10 PCs on my LAN so I want my range to include 10 IP addresses such as .2 thru .11. It does not refer to the default gateway address; only IPs it is going to lease out as the NAT server of those IP addresses.

And what would you call a range of ip statically assigned?
Ip range is just that, a range of ip addresses. That range could include the gateway address, dns servers or whatever. Its just has a beginning and a end.
See here for an example: http://www.more.net/technical/netserv/tcpip/private.html

Well it didn't answer my question but it seems as the term "ip range" generally is a term that loosely means a bounch of ip-addresses (that may or may not include the Net ID and Broadcast)

Ip range is simply a logical start and finish of your addressing

loven your question was answered and is NOT just a bunch of ip addresses. In other words 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 is a range of ip addresses. Those ip addresses can be gateways, servers, wksts or whatever.
Range is not defined by usage.
Now 200.200.10.1, 65.0.0.2 and 10.10.0.1 are NOT a range of ip addresses but they are a bunch of ip addresses
