Okay so, I've searched up on how to fix this problem but have had no luck. This is what happened:

I downloaded an update for my anti virus software(avira) and rebooted my PC. Internet is working fine before restart no problems. After windows restarts and I'm back at my desktop, my LAN says that it has limited or no connectivity. When I tried connecting to MSN messenger, the troubleshooter said that my default gateway was offline. I did ipconfig and only saw the autoconfiguration IP address and the subnet mask. The default gateway and the connection specific DNS suffix are blank.

The computer this is happening on is running XP sp3 and I'm connected to a network using a linksys wireless-g WRT54GS router on my host computer which is running vista.

Anyone have a fix for this? I've tried setting the default gateway and ip settings in the LAN's TCP/IP properties to the same as the setting i have on my vista computer, it said it connected and I no longer had the "limited or no connectivity" thing but the internet still didn't work. When i did ipconfig again, the same default gateway was missing.

Was the IP something like 169.x.x.x?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
