I have a 6 computer home / business network. I presently have the printer hung on my main computer and shared with the other computers.

Would I be better off having a dedicated computer (older but serviceable) for my printer (and scanner). That way printer does not run through my main computer. My scanner is an older HP and won't run on XP; so to use it I have to set up a dedicated scanner computer anyways.

From what I have read this is a good use for older computers.

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

I have 3 kids with own computers that often use printer or scanner.

thanks

Tom C.

Sure! Go for it. Nothing wrong with doing that. That way you can set it up in a convenient location.
