dead network

Specs: xp pro sp1, 2.2gz 256mb

Ive networked 2 pc's for months now with no problems. Now they can't see eachother. I haven't changed configeration, nor installed any hardware. the cables are checked and fine, in fact there is no reason why it should stop working at all. I've tried the wizard many times, and done the "bridge" thing. but nothing i do is working. I'm quite clued up on pc's, but networking is a bit foggy to me. any help would be appreciated.

Control Panel>Hardware>Device Manager
Highlight Network Adapter Uninstall repeat for the other PC.
Reboot
Network Setup Wizard - No bridge 'thing'
Follow the on screen instructions all the way thru - including the floppy step. If your NIC's (Network Interface Card) or Network Adapter per XP are as good as you say your cables are It will be a good network.
