What is it that you are asking?

dbi gain is a value that is normal applied to a signal amplifier. That can be sound, vision, RF transmission or data transmission.

It is not something that can be applied to a computer in its entirety.

I have taken the liberty of removing you Email address, It is not a good idea to put it on an open forum as it will attract ever spammer from her to Archangel. Besides, the idea is that you ask a question and someone answers it here then everyone gets to see, including you. Personalised answers cost money.

ok cool. what i'm saying is i want to know how powerful my normal laptop signal strength is, because if i buy a wireless card the same value as my laptop ive wasted my money. So will it be worth buying a 5DBI gain antenna have more range than my laptop, itself?

A 5 dbi gain antenna will increase you signal strength, providing you have somewhere to connect it. Not all wireless cards have detachable antennas.

Don't expect fantastic results though, 5 dbi is not much.

If you are asking about an external antenna for your laptop, most laptops don't have one. You could purchase a USB wireless NIC with an antenna, and replace the stock antenna with a more powerful one.
