I have been given the task of setting up a small network consisting of 16 Win2k Pro workstations, and 2 Win2k servers(1 file and print- 1 application.
I have access to two switches that each have 14 ports. What would be the best way to handle this?
Please Help. New To IT

Connect the two switches together either by using a crossover cat5 cable or a regular cat5 cable that is connected to either switches "uplink port". Once that is accomplished, attach all the workstations to the switches. Then configure the tcp/ip settings in the Servers and clients and insure all the computers can "see" each other. For more info, go to google.com and search for networking and LAN switching.

Patrick\Anyone,
With ref to your question?

1.Do the Servers get connected to the switches also ?? ( In theory the servers are just computers as well??)

2. If the printer drivers are installed on the print server in the server room then how does the printer(in the office) physically connect the print server.
What needs to be connected to what?
many thanks
paddy
